"Oh, Honey!"

The days have been busy here at SFCV. (That stands for Shepherds Field Children's Village) Over the weekend I played with the kids and went out to dinner.  Most dinners are spent at the inn since interns are responsible for making their own.  Some we cook together. However, on Sunday, Melissa and I went to the Hot Pot with the visiting team of 28 and the Bakers. The team was comprised of parents and their adopted children that at one time lived at Shepherd's Field.

This week it's just the norm of helping in the school and cleaning. This Sunday Annie, Melissa, and I will hopefully be going to The Great Wall with one of the teams.
Annie taught Grady the word "honey" and now it is like a pet name he gives. So whenever I am around Grady he is always saying, "Thank You Honey," or "Oh, Honey." So I look at him and say, "Oh Darling!" and he just starts laughing and says, "You no call me that!"

Below are photos taken from the House of Peace where I have been cleaning and organizing with Pam.  After being closed for 2 years,  it will now serve as a storage house of all the needed resources for the kids, including bins of clothing.

Jumping for Joy

Kids enjoying the new trampoline.  Video sure to make you smile.

There are Games to Play

In the afternoons I've been playing cards with Grady, the Flochs and most of the interns. We all get pretty competitive. We mostly play UNO, spoons and slap jack. It's great to see everyone connect through just playing cards. Grady has such a unique laugh that once he laughs everyone starts laughing. Grady calls everyone silly buy mostly the intern Melissa. And he calls me either Hannah or hanny. It makes me laugh every time I hear it.

About a day or two ago the kids got a trampoline. It's great to see about 15 kids on there all at the same time. The nannies get a kick out of it. Joseph, Elizabeth, and Ling Ling like it especially. It's great watching the kids laugh and having a great time. It brings joy to my day:)

Ready to Work

I made it safely to China and have been hard at work since I got here. Right now my daily routine is waking up at 7 am and go to the House of Promise and help Pam Baker clean it. The house has been empty for some time and is quite dirty.  I had to wash each floor about 3 times trying to get all the dust off. Whew! Then if I have time before my lunch break, I go and stock the PHF store and price and organize items.  Next, well  atleast today, I work in the garden mostly weeding.  My favorite part of the day is the afternoon when I can work with the kids. I help Melissa and Annie, two interns, with the preschool and kindergarten classes. Then I assist in the primary class with English. The evenings I have free and have spent it primarily napping. Haha.

The six other interns here are great.  Two of them are leaving at the end of this week. The kids here are so cute to watch. They love to ride there little bikes and ask you to help them. I will be posting pictures of all their cute faces soon.

And man, has Grady grown!  He has such a great sense of humor. He can go so fast in his wheel chair and is always making me laugh. His English had improved and his voice had gotten a lot deeper. All the kids here have grown so much since 2009 when I last came here.

It's great getting to know people and see how they have the same love for the Father. Some are new followers and are on fire for the Father's business.  Feeling very blessed to be here.

Flight

And so the journey begins. My flight route is Spokane to Seattle, then Seattle to Beijing. At the moment I am sitting in the Seattle airport waiting to board my plane to Beijing. I have already encountered a few adventures. For example, when I had to use the restroom in the Seattle airport, I kind of got stuck in the stall door. Obviously, that was a lot of fun and embarrassing.
